Brake disc

To make the wheels brake, the material of the brake disc or rotary shaft is usually gray cast iron, but in some cases is made of composite materials, such as carbon fiber ceramic composite (CCM). As a safety component, brake discs require special surface roughness, radius, flatness and parallelism. In machining, custom tools such as combination turning heads and drill bits are often used. Casting, ferrite content and aging problems can affect the machinability of brake discs.

IKEN offers integral PCBN inserts for strong service life in high speed cutting and high feed environments.
